wellbalanced

Global and 1D fluid models of low-temperature plasmas, with the reaction data of the kinetic codes.

Global (0D) model

Balances of every species, the electron energy and the gas temperature, averaged over a chamber: reactions, Bohm losses through the walls and magnetic cusps, wall recombination, feed, pumping and beam sources. Steady states in seconds.

1D fluid model

Drift-diffusion of every species with Scharfetter-Gummel fluxes, the electron energy and Poisson’s equation, fully implicit; walls, prescribed densities or fluxes at either end, changeable between steps.

The data of the kinetic codes

Rates come from plasmacoll’s cross sections averaged over a Maxwellian, the data its Monte Carlo collisions use: a fluid and a kinetic model of the same plasma differ in their physics, not their data.

Checked against closed forms
